Boumedienne commits to Boston University
December 14, 2023
2007 born defenseman Sascha Boumedienne has made his commitment to play college hockey for Boston University (Hockey East).
A highly regarded prospect for the 2025 NHL Draft Boumedienne has made an immediate impact with Youngstown Phantoms (USHL), tallying 13 points in his first 19 games. Boumedienne signed a tender with the Phantoms while playing for the 16U team last season, and is currently teammates with fellow OBJ alumnus and Providence College commit Braiden Clark.
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Boumedienne is also a member of the Swedish national team, recording 2 goals and 9 assists in 17 international games. In 2022-23, the dynamic blueliner racked up 11 goals and 42 points in 49 games at an underage player at the 16U level.
The Hockey East Association enters its 40th season on the ice in 2023-24 as it has consistently proven as the strongest NCAA Division I college hockey conference from top to bottom, boasting 118 NCAA Tournament berths, more than any other conference since Hockey East’s inception. More recently, Hockey East led the way at the 2021 NHL Entry Draft where more of its athletes, current and committed, were chosen than any other conference once again. In 2021, the University of Massachusetts captured its first-ever NCAA National Championship, the league’s 10th national crown.
