
OBJ announces January Players of the Month

The Ohio AAA Blue Jackets are proud to announce the program's January Players of the Month presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods. A new initiative this season, these awards are issued to one member from each team. Honored are student-athletes that excel on and off of the ice, demonstrate our holistic development model and represent the program's core values of process, respect, integrity, determination and excellence.
18U (2006/07) - Zachary Wolf
Currently in his 9th season as a AAA Blue Jacket, Wolf has been a mainstay and core member of the 2006 birth year since its first season in the program. A well-rounded forward, Wolf brings a consistent approach every day. His combination of skill, smarts and competitiveness make him impactful in all situations for the 18U team. Wolf has racked up 18 goals and 40 points through 46 games this season, helping earn the squad the No. 2 seed in the upcoming T1EHL playoffs. Currently a senior at Gahanna High School, Zachary carries a 3.7 GPA while taking honors classes. He also volunteers with the local Learn to Play and sled hockey programs.
16U (2008) - Luke Bricker
Luke had a solid and consistent month at both ends of the ice for the 16U team. A complete player, Bricker has racked up 29 goals, 39 assists and 68 points this season to go along with a +34 rating in 53 games played. He also plays a big role in the defensive end as a penalty killer. Luke is the consummate teammate and brings a focus and commitment to the rink every day. He is consistently working on his craft and focused on getting better on a daily basis. A 10th grader at Olentangy High School, he carries a 4.0 GPA and plays baseball for the Braves in the spring.
16U Girls (2008/09) - Charlotte Keller
Charlotte is a tremendous defender that is relied on in all situations. She was voted a member of the team's leadership group and has excelled in her transition to the 16U level this season. She has worked hard off of the ice to improve her speed and has evolved her game to get involved more offensively from the back end. A 10th grader at Bexley High School, Keller boasts a 4.2 GPA while taking AP and honors courses. She is a member of the Bexley Key Club and Environmental Club and enjoys strength training a Donskov Strength and Conditioning year round.
15O (2009) - Carson Burke
A steady, hard-working defender, Carson plays an important role on the 15O team. Known for his every day work ethic, Burke is extremely coachable. A key contributor on the penalty kill, he also quarterbacks one of the team's power play units. A steady puck mover, Burke is also one of the leaders on the team in blocked shots. In January, he helped his team to a big win over Pens Elite and a home sweep against the Chicago Fury. A 10th grader at Hilliard Darby High School, he carries a 4.2 GPA in the classroom.
14U (2010) - Anthony Brancazio
A dominant goaltender in his age group, Brancazio had an outstanding month in the pipes finishing with a 3-1-1 record, 1.20 GAA and .940 save percentage. His performances included a 2-1 win and 1-0 overtime loss to a talented Honeybaked team. He also helped the team clinch a playoff spot in the championship bracket of the T1EHL playoffs. Anthony is a quiet leader that shows up to the rink and gym ready to work each and every day. A 9th grader at Liberty High School, Brancazio maintains a 4.0 GPA. He also volunteers with the Blue Jackets Hockey League, helping the next wave of young goaltenders develop their game.
14U Girls (2010/11) - Rachel Schlagheck
Rachel is a reliable and steady presence on the blue line for the 14U Girls team. Her consistent play allows for her to be used in all situations. She plays a key role on the penalty kill and loves to compete in the hard areas of the ice. Her hard work and dedication are demonstrated each and every day in both games and practice. Rachel excels in the classroom as well, earning a 4.0 GPA in her first semester while taking honors classes as a 9th grader at Centerville High School. She plans to run track for the school this spring.
13O (2011) - Zander Shank
Zander had a great month for the 13O team, scoring 6 goals, 5 assists and 11 points to go along with a +8 rating in 10 games played throughout the month, helping the high-achieving 2011's have success with a very challenging and highly competitive schedule. Zander possesses an outstanding work ethic both on and off of the ice. He consistently impacts the game with his speed and tenacity on the forecheck. Currently an 8th grader at Ohio Connections Academy, Shank is on the merit honor roll and has been recognized by his teachers for being a leader in the classroom while having a positive attitude.
12U (2012) - Lucas Cea
Lucas has shown tremendous growth in his second season in the program. Cea elevated his game in January, going 4-0-0 in his last four games with one shutout and a 1.25 goals against average. The stretch was highlighted with a 30 save performance in a 4-1 win over a challenging Elgin Middlesex team. He is a high character, humble and hard-working goaltender that is a calming presence in net. A 7th grader at Gahanna Middle School East, Cea is an honor student and excels in math and science. He also plays club lacrosse in the spring and summer.
12U Girls (2012/13) - Hadley Lecorchick
An exceptional defender that makes an impact at both ends of the ice, Lecorchick had an outstanding month for the 12U Girls team, highlighted by a 2 goal, 2 assist performance against the Reston Raiders on January 12. Hadley has the heart of gold. She brings an infectious positive energy to the rink and is one of the hardest workers on the team and and every day. She is committed to doing extra daily to improve her game. She also embraced a position change from forward to defense earlier in the season. A 7th grader at Eversole Run Middle School, Lecorchick also plays club soccer for DSX.
11U (2013) - Benjamin Carlson
A dependable defenseman, Benjamin had a solid month of January for the 11U OBJ squad, consistently exemplifying a good attitude and positive body language during practice and games. Carlson is a hard-working blueliner, that accepts any challenge asked of him. He possesses good daily habits and a mindset to improve every day. He is a great example to his teammates and challenges them to get better by leading by example. A 5th grader at Greensview Elementary School in Upper Arlington, Ben excels in school and is in the gifted program for both mathematics and English Language Arts.
10U (2014) - Colton Steckel
Colton had a big month for the 10U squad scoring 17 goals and 21 points in 15 game and helped lead the team to a tournament championship at the NAR Hockeytown Elite MLK Invite in Detroit. Steckel brings an every day effort that has a positive impact on the team. He consistently creates chances through second/third effort and not giving up on plays. In addition, he has proven to be a great teammate to his peers. A 4th grader at Glacier Ridge Elementary, Steckel represents his school on the Leadership and Welcome Councils and also plays club lacrosse in Dublin in the spring and fall.

With an every day mission to develop our student-athletes to reach their potential on and off of the ice, the program aims to provide a healthy and safe environment for the elite player to grow as a player, person and teammate through the great game of hockey.
